Oliver Mtukudzi to deliver lecture at Musica 2014

Zimbabwe's international music superstar Oliver Mtukudzi will on Wednesday deliver a lecture on the ethic and philosophy of being an international artiste and public figure.
The lecture will be presented at a Musica 2014 seminar that will be held at the Zimbabwe College of Music.
In 2011 Tuku was awarded the honorary title of Cavaliere, by the Italian Government in recognition for his work as an international musician.
Other speakers at the seminar will include the multi-talented Enrico De Agostini, the Ambassador of Italy to Zimbabwe. The Italian diplomat is a singer, guitarist, chef and published author. Vocalist Amanda Tossini, Zimbabwean promoter Bernie Bizmark and sound engineer Mark van Daventer will also make presentations at the same seminar.
In line with its development focus, the festival organisers will hold a series of additional workshops at the Zimbabwe College of Music on Thursday 23 and Friday 24, October. The workshops are meant to equip aspiring musicians drawn from schools and colleges with musical skills to ensure their development.
"Musica is not just about entertainment; it is an opportunity to develop the artists' skills both from a creative and a professional perspective, international artists will also have opportunities to share ideas and learn from their local counterparts," said Ambassador De Agostini.
Established international and local musicians including Enzo Favata (Italy), Max Covinni, Andrea Valeri (Italy) and Victor Kunonga will tutor workshop participants on vocals and various instruments including guitar, drums, piano, saxophone and mbira.
The workshops will close on Friday, with participants giving performances to showcase the skills that they acquired during the workshop programme.
"Our culture exchange programme places a great emphasis on artistic interaction. The key results of this initiative ongoing include Dudu Manhenga's performances in Italy and the Zimbo-Ita project, in which Blessing Chimanga has partnered with Italian musicians Max Covini and Matteo Boldini," said the Italian Ambassador.
The week-long festival which is an annual event will take place at various venues in the capital including the Italian Club, Embassy of Italy, 7 Arts Theatre, Zimbabwe German Society, Book Cafe, Misty's, Megga 2, and Sam Levy's Village.
One the largest cultural events in Zimbabwe, the festival has received recognition as a major contributor to the development of arts and culture in the country.
The festival facilitates culture exchange in Zimbabwe through its winning formula of bringing together international, regional and local artists to perform and interact artistically at different venues around Harare.
Musica 2014 was made possible with the support of the Italian Embassy's partners and sponsors. These include NACZ, FBC Bank, Econet, Salini Costruttori, Freight World, Peroni, Meikles Hotel, Mediterranean Shipping Company, Progressive Insurance, Just Doors, Only Italian, Fiat, Ethiopian Airlines, Sontine Travel, ZGS and Culture Fund.
