MUTARE's finest musicians Hosiah Chipanga, Brian Samaita and Juicer Mpostori will team up to market their new albums and take turns to entertain local fans when they stage live performances in the city at popular entertainment centre, Club Mandisa this weekend. Chipanga is currently riding high with his 25th project, Mumweya, while Samaita popularly known as Murondatsimba recently released a hard core sungura album, Tsono.
Talented urban groove sensation, Wiriranai Maenda, whose moniker is Juicer Mpostori, bounced back with a bang after releasing a scorcher, Mai Tatenda which carries eight tracks.
Songs on the three albums were received with mixed feelings with some school of thought arguing that they were the best ever the artistes had produced.
Samaita's 'Sando Dzangu' and Juicer's 'Mai Tatenda' have received rave reviews on local radio stations.
The potentially explosive shows will start tonight (Friday) with Juicer Mpostori entertaining his legion of fans, while Hosiah aka Kwachu Kwachu as Chipanga is affectionately referred to by his fans will serenade revellers tomorrow (Saturday).
Samaita and Murondatsimba Express will curtain down with an act on Sunday. All shows start at 8pm.
In an interview, the three artistes, said they would use the opportunity to popularise their albums and reach out to their fans.
Said Juicer Mpostori: "It is a special opportunity for me to meet my fans and dish out my new project. Promoters have not been forthcoming and we have been struggling to get exposure as well as a platform to market our new stuff.
"Such opportunities should be cherished and I want to urge my fans to come in numbers and have undiluted fun."
Chipanga who is backed by Vaparidzi Veshoko, said the opportunity was like a "Christmas holiday" to him because it was a rare opportunity considering some promoters' naivety and reluctance to promote local talent.
"Obviously we will do our best as a band to put up a splendid performance.
"This opportunity does not come everyday. We will belt out the four new tracks from Mumweya as well as other old tracks from my previous albums."
The Sunday show will be a grand opportunity for Samaita to prove his mettle as one of renowned sungura artistes from the eastern border city to fans expected to throng Mandisa.
"My newly assembled band is ready to roar.
"The shows will be good for them, they need experience and exposure," he said.
The shows promoter, Boniface Nyamanhindi, promised to promote local talent and help fulfil their dreams of competing with renowned artistes from outside Manicaland Province.
