ZIMBABWEAN sungura maestro Alick Macheso is on Sunday  billed  to  descend  on  Matabeleland South's Jabula Inn in Esigodini for an all night gig.

This will be the first time that the sungura virtuoso will be playing on his own without curtain raisers.

In an interview, one of Bulawayo's prominent promoters Jorum Moyo, said the impressive guitarist is out to prove that he has what it takes to play for the whole night.

He said Macheso wants to raise the bar and is trying to push boundaries so that his fans can see how far he can go.

"People should not say I am going to the show at midnight that is when he will start playing, they will find the show in the middle. He will be playing from 8pm till morning," Moyo said.

Macheso has of late been bringing, Tryson "Dr Nero" Chimbetu or Progress Chipfumo as curtain-raisers for his gigs in this region.

Baba Shero, as his fans affectionately call him, is bringing his latest dance craze kochekera, to his fans that seem not to have enough of him.

Though some people have rubbished his latest effort Kwatakabva Mitunhu (Kure Kwekure), his die-hard fans swear that it ranks amoung his best projects.

They singled out songs like Macharangwanda, Cynthia, Dzikai Namasimba and Kutsvaga Chiremba, as some of the stand out songs from the album.

"Fans should come and see the man in action. The last time he was here in October he did not disappoint and he is promising a lot of action," Moyo said.

People should look forward to Macheso's astounding dancer, Selemani "Majuice" Mpochi who has taken over the slot left by Francis "Franco Slomo" Daka. Majuice has some dazzling moves that have endeared him to fans.

The return of Elton Muropa and Noel Nyazanda to Orchestra Mberikwazvo after they had left for Sulumani Chimbetu's Orchestra Dendera Kings brings to Jabula Inn the original Cheso Power beat.

This will also be the first time that Macheso's fans in Matabeleland South will see live the performance of some of the songs from Macheso's latest and ninth effort, Kwatakabva Mitunhu.

The fans will also have an opportunity to dance the night away to songs from his other eight albums, Magariro, Vakiridzo, Zvakanaka Zvakadaro, Simbaradzo, Zvido Zvenyu Kunyanya, Ndezva She! Vapupuri Pupurai and Tafadzwa.

The albums have chart busting songs such as Charakupa, Shediah, Madhawu, Tafadzwa, Chara Chimwe, Amai Varubhi, Mundikumbuke, Tererai and Petunia, which Macheso is expected to belt out at the place.

Meanwhile, the Sungura maestro, Alick Macheso will today descend on Masvingo's Ritz Regency Night Club after close to seven years away.

Macheso last played at the venue just after the release of his album, Zvinoda Kutendwa and fans are expecting nothing less than a top drawer display from the talented singer and guitarist.

The night spot entertainment manager Roy Gonese said the stage was set for the show expected to draw revellers from as far afield as Zvishavane,Chiredzi and Birchenough Bridge.

"We have prepared well for this show. We have made some improvements to our stage and the atmosphere has remarkably improved as there is now free movement for the revellers," he said.

On the size of the venue considering that the Chitungwiza based artiste is a crowd puller, Gonese said: "If Macheso plays at the Civic Centre whose capacity is smaller than ours here, I don't see any reason why we can fail to accommodate a capacity crowd at the venue. We are capable of accommodating as many fans as we can," he said.

Masvingo fans will get an opportunity to see the man's new dancing routines for the first time. Since he introduced his Kochekera dance, the artiste has not yet visited the oldest town. Judging by his previous shows, Macheso will not disappoint the entertainment starved revellers at the popular watering hole.
