'Resurrected' Maskandi identity verification results expected today

The South African Department of Home Affairs says it will release the verification to ascertain the real identity of Maskandi artist Khulekani Khumalo, popularly known as Mgqumeni, who claims he has been 'resurrected' from the grave.
The artist, who according to family records died three years ago, has told a crowd at Inquthu, in northern KwaZulu/Natal he has been living with animals and tokoloshes in the wild. Home Affairs Deputy Director General, Vusi Mkhize, says they will investigate the news that doing rounds that of the same man that was recorded as having passed on in 2009.
Mkhize says they will check those fingerprints of the person compare them against the record they have and also draw the death certificate of 2009 and based on those outcomes, they can then advice his family on the identity of the person.
There is frenzy among Masikhandi fans countrywide following the mysterious return of the artist Khulekani. He returned to his home in Nquthu this week two years after 'he died' and was buried. Thousands from across KwaZulu-Natal descended on his home today to see for themselves.
Police tried in vain to keep thousands at bay, and eventually gave up.He finally appeared to a thunderous cheer but not everyone is convinced. Even some family members are still in disbelief. The man who claims to be Mgqumeni says he was held captive and never died. He hopes DNA and finger prints will prove his identity.
He has called for the grave to be exhumed so that they also find out who exactly was buried. Police were expected to take DNA tests and to exhume the body that was buried in 2009. At the time of his death Mgqumeni was the second best Masikhandi selling artist in the country.
