LONDON - The African Forum for Cultural Diplomacy (AFFCD) has announced its successful incorporation as a Company, Limited by Guarantee (CIC), headquartered in London - a move it says marks a major milestone in its mission to promote cultural diplomacy between Africa and the world.
AFFCD Secretary General Pardon Tapfumaneyi said the development comes as the organisation reflects on key achievements in 2025.
"We are pleased to announce the successful incorporation of AFFCD as a Company, Limited by Guarantee (CIC) headquartered in London, UK. This milestone marks a significant step forward in our mission to promote cultural diplomacy and cooperation between Africa and the world," Tapfumaneyi said.
He highlighted AFFCD President Walter Mzembi's diplomatic engagements earlier in the year, including participation at the World Forum 2025 in Berlin, where former US President Bill Clinton was honoured as “Peacemaker of the Century.”
Mzembi also visited the British Parliament, House of Lords and the Commonwealth Secretariat, engaging in discussions around Zimbabwe's potential readmission to the Commonwealth. He met with Chatham House and several embassies, including Mozambique, where diplomatic efforts contributed to a breakthrough handshake between President Daniel Chapo and opposition leader Valencio Mondhlane.
In September, AFFCD signed an MOU with Festac and participated in Festac Africa 2025 in Ghana under the theme Uniting Africa through Culture, Creativity, and Collaborations for Sustainable Growth. The event celebrated the legacy of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and featured multiple plenary sessions.
In October, AFFCD attended the launch of the League of African Ambassadors at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka, Zambia. The event was officiated by Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema, represented by Foreign Affairs Minister Mulambo Haimbe.
Tapfumaneyi said AFFCD delivered a solidarity message calling for cultural cooperation and pan‑African collaboration. However, he raised concern over the arrest and detention of President Mzembi in Zimbabwe.
"We continue to call for his unconditional release, as we believe the charges undermine diplomatic immunity. Mzembi's health has continued to deteriorate, and we remain concerned by the lack of empathy from the Zimbabwean administration. His trial is set for January 2026; we hope he will be vindicated and remain free to pursue diplomatic initiatives throughout Africa," Tapfumaneyi said.
He concluded with a festive message: "As we celebrate Christmas and welcome the new year, we wish you joy, peace and prosperity. We look forward to your continued support and collaboration in advancing Africa's interests and aspirations. May God bless Africa. Merry Christmas and a prosperous 2026."
