TWO bus workers are behind bars today after being bust with R2 million in drugs.

Daily Sun reported that the two 52-year-old workers from Eldo Coaches in Joburg were denied bail in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday.

They weren't asked to plead on a charge of drug dealing.

Lieutenant-Colonel Andre Taut said they were bust on arrival on Saturday at Cape Town's long-distance bus rank.

Police found 2kg of heroin, 2kg of cocaine and 2kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R2 million hidden in the driver's compartment area.

The bus was seized as a court exhibit.

It was revealed in court that both suspects had criminal records - one from the 1980s for assault and the other from 1992 related to drinking.

The pair told the court there were no warrants of arrest or cases against them.

One said he lived in Vlakfontein extension, south of Joburg, but he couldn't give an address.

Magistrate Alta le Roux postponed the case to next Monday (27 July) for investigation and to check addresses.
