A 28-year-old man from Tonota village in the central administrative district went berserk when his estranged 26-year-old girlfriend and mother of his four children refused his spirited back love bid.
The Voice reported that Thatayaone Busang of Mhaakame ward hurled insults directed at his ex-girlfriend, Neo Kanako, 26, and her mom identified in court papers only as Seabe.
Busang also threatened to kill his estranged girlfriend.
This came to light during Busang's initial court appearance for a charge of threat to kill before Francistown principal magistrate Jennifer Chikate on Monday.
Allegations are that Busang sent a text message threatening the girlfriend and hurling insults at her mother.
"O sie, botshelo ja gago jotlhe, moloi yo gotweng Seabe re tla kopana a s#*#% se sentsho. Ke tsile go go bolaya gore Seabe a bone molemo wa gagwe," reads an offensive text message sent to Kanako.
Loosely translated the threat warns Kanako to be on the run for the rest of her life. It also describes Seabe as a witch and claims that the killing of Kanako would provide Seabe with a witchcraft potion.
Inspector Boikhutso Sekadima applied for Busang to be remanded in custody because he habitually abused Kanako physically, emotionally and socially.
Given an opportunity to speak in court, a remorseful Busang pleaded with the court for bail.
The magistrate however decided to keep him locked up to give the police time to conduct their investigations without fear of interference from the accused person.
Magistrate Chikate also issued an order against Mascom Wireless to provide the court with information related to messages send on August 6, 2015 from Busang's cellphone to his ex-girlfriend's
