EDUCATION and training experts have advised youths and business entrepreneurs to seek information regarding policies implemented in the country so that they take advantage and make use of them for the betterment of the economy.
Speaking at a Scholastica seminar that ran concurrently with the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair last week, Dinah Falala and Phoebe Sandi Foundation chief executive officer, Mrs Mildred Sandi said youths and entrepreneurs must seek the right knowledge that they can exploit to venture into business.
She said most youths were not aware of the new economic blueprint – Zimbabwe Agenda for Sustainable Socio-Economic Transformation (Zim Asset), which has a number of opportunities they could explore.
"Everyone in Zimbabwe who is not aware of the Zim Asset should seek information first because information is power. After seeking the information they will be able to recognise the effects of the policies on their lives and make use of them," she said.
Mrs Sandi said information should also be passed on to everyone so that many people become involved in economic activities.
"We have an agenda of making sure that we take part in what we wish the country to be in the near future. The agenda is mainly economic empowerment and therefore, Zim Asset is economic liberation where we are able to do whatever we want as long as it contributes to the country economically," she said.
She said the Zim Asset strategies would only be achieved if people acted upon them.
"All policies which we have in Zimbabwe that were set to create employment and improve our economy can only be achieved if they are fed in through the field of practice. People should not just sit and expect things to happen but instead they should stand and start implementing those policies in their day to day business.
"We are, therefore, here to share the crucial information that we have so that we can develop our country together. We should not leave aside all the policies that are meant to benefit us as this will affect us," she said.
Sports and Science coach at National University of Science and Technology Mrs Sipho Rutsate advised youths to take part in sport as it equips both the body and mind.
"Youths should take part in Sports Science courses because as soon as the industries revive more jobs will emerge from sports. We also need to engage ourselves in sports as it is a way of conditioning the body so that one can be fit for all physical jobs which benefit the economics of the country," she said.
