Mugabe caps 846 graduands at Lupane State University

President Robert Mugabe has capped 846 graduands at Lupane State University's 7th graduation ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the university`s main campus in Lupane.

Twenty-five graduands were drawn the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences while 372 and 245 were from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Faculty of Commerce respectively.

A total of 20 graduated with a Master of Social Science in Development Studies.

One hundred and eighty-four graduands were graduating with diplomas in various disciplines.

Lupane State University Vice Chancellor Professor Pardon Kuipa says the institution has crafted a five year strategic plan, running into the year 2020 that has seven strategic directions to ensure the university fully implements its mandate.

"Without diluting the essence of the seven strategic directions, the emphasis reflects a desire by the university to raise its profile in research, teaching, community service, and resource mobilisation.

"In particular, we wish to increase the volume and quality of our publications and scholarship, expand infrastructure and create a conducive and secure environment in which scholarship can flourish," said Professor Kuipa.

The university has partnered with various organisations to improve research and learning facilities at the campus.
