IT doesn't rain but pours for a Maphisa couple whose baby has spent 6-months at Mpilo hospital in Bulawayo due to Hydrocephalus.

According to Wikipedia, hydrocephalus is a deadly medical condition prevalent in infants which causes abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the ventricles of the brain.

According to hospital officials who spoke to Bulawayo24, the 7 months baby Russel Sumba whose mother and father have been identified as Forget Ncube and Nyaminga Sumba was supposed to under a surgical operation immediately after birth but the parents could not raise $500 required for the operation.

"This little baby has been in hospital for the past 6 months," said a nurse who spoke on condition of anonymity because she was not authorized to speak to the press.

"The baby is supposed to undergo an operation but the parents have no money required. The baby is lying still at the pediatric ward at Mpilo. $500 dollars is required."

Efforts to get hold of the baby's parents were not fruitful while Mpilo clinical director Dr. Wedu Ndebele was also not reachable for comment at the time of going to Press.
