Registrar General Tobias Mudede has once again courted controversy by imploring women not to use contraceptives alleging they are responsible for causing diseases.
Mr Mudede, who co-authored a book called "Genetically Modified Organisms and Population Control Drugs in Developing Countries" with Mr Richard Hondo, says further findings from a research that they conducted has re-affirmed the initial findings that most pandemics like cancer are being caused by the use of contraceptives as they disrupt the biological cycle.
Briefing the media in Harare, Mr Mudede alleged most of the birth control methods such as depo provera, jadelle and implants that western countries are encouraging countries in the region to use are meant to slow down population growth in the region and eventually weaken the African continent.
With statistics from the last national census held in 2012 indicating the population growth rate was pegged at 1,1 percent, the exact figure recorded in the 2002 census, Mr Mudede alleged the figures indicate the country's population is stagnant attributing the slight increase to people who have migrated to Zimbabwe.
Ordinary people who spoke to the ZBC News in Harare, however, shot down the RG's research findings describing his ideas as out of touch with realities.
Mr Mudede said women should resort to traditional or natural methods such the rhythm method that does not have any side effects.
