Sturgeon Bay - Authorities say an 80-year-old woman took control of a small plane and landed it with radio help after the pilot, her husband, lost consciousness.
Door County Sheriff Terry Vogel says the Cessna reported trouble on Monday evening in Wisconsin. Vogel says the woman didn't know how to fly the twin-engine plane. Then one engine ran out of fuel.
Another plane was sent up to determine the Cessna's speed and transmit landing instructions. Vogel says it took a lot for the woman to collect her thoughts and land the plane with her unconscious husband beside her.
The 81-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.
