Zim woman admits using false passport for UK care worker job

COVENTRY, United Kingdom - A Zimbabwean woman who used a false passport to try and get a job as a care worker in Coventry has admitted seven charges of identity fraud.

Sikhumbuzule Sibanda, 38, from Ward End, in Birmingham, but originally from Zimbabwe, appeared at Leamington Crown Court on Friday.

She admitted four counts of possessing a false Zimbabwean passport between 2008 and this year, and three of fraud by false representation between the same dates.

The court heard Sbanda, who hoped to secure indefinite leave to stay in the UK, was arrested in July by the UK Border Agency.

UK Border Agency officers arrested Sikhumbuzule Sbanda, 38, of St Margaret's Road, Ward End, Birmingham on 6th July 2012.

She was charged with identity and fraud offences and appeared at Coventry Magistrates Court on 7th July.

Sbanda was remanded into custody until last Friday.

Andy Carter, West Midlands criminal and financial investigation team, UK Border Agency said: "Our specialist crime teams of immigration and police officers working together are cracking down on all forms of immigration abuse, whether this is identity theft, document fraud or sham marriages."
