Dokora ridiculed by MPs over goat fee payment
10 May 2017 at 09:37hrs | Views
Primary and Secondary Education minister Lazarus Dokora had a torrid in parliament Wednesday afternoon as opposition legislators bleated like goats as he entered the house.
In April, Dokora said parents are now free to pay school fees using goats sparking a nationwide debate.
He later claimed that his statement on payments was widely misinterpreted to mean parents will have to drag goats and other livestock to schools as payment for fees.
The misinterpretations were accompanied by various social media rants and allegations of a new currency, a 'goat currency' purportedly introduced by Dokora.
Today in parliament, Dokora entered the house late and was easily spotted by legislators who quickly ridiculed him.
Mabel Chinomona, the deputy speaker of Parliament then threatened to kicked out the legislators.
"Honorable members if you keep on sounding like goats i will throw you out" thundered Chinomona during a televised session.
Deputy Information minister Sithokozile Mathuthu backed Dokora saying "according to me imbuzi, imbuzi, imbuzi is development. There is no home without imbuzi".
