A BULAWAYO man from Pumula South stabbed himself five times on Friday night in a bizarre incident in which he claims he was being ordered by satanists who use his Facebook account to haunt him.
Niphius Gwata, 46, a taxi driver stabbed himself five times, thrice on the neck and twice on the stomach on Friday evening at his Pumula South home apparently on orders of satanists.
When a Chronicle reporter and photographer visited Gwata at Mpilo Hospital's Intensive Care Unit yesterday his relatives dragged them to Barbourfields Police Station on suspicion that they were the satanists haunting the man.
"Gwata says he sees people who torment him. We suspect these two gentlemen are the very people who are haunting him," one of the relatives told the police.
Journalist had an opportunity to hear the details of the incident as the relatives narrated to the police.
Gwata reportedly told his wife that an unidentified man was following him and demanding that he spills blood.
He is reported to have pleaded with his relatives to close his Facebook account as the satanist were using it to torment him.
However, his Facebook account was still active by the time of going to press.
Narrating to the police the family members said they were in shock and still trying to understand what really transpired.
They told the police that Gwata was operated on after the incident and an unidentified object was removed from his stomach.
"Even the doctors are failing to identify the object they removed from his stomach, which is clear to us that this is the work of satanists who are after people's blood," they said.
On Friday Gwata reportedly came from work and sent his wife to collect his jacket from the car when the wife came back she found him stabbing himself.
He is reported to have ordered the wife not to scream or he was going to kill her and the children and proceeded to stab himself twice in the stomach and fell down.
The wife is reported to have screamed and alerted neighbours who came and assisted her to ferry Gwata to Mpilo Central Hospital where he is recovering.
