A FORM Three pupil at Pumula High School in Bulawayo allegedly ran amok and stabbed a 21 year old woman four times on the chest following a misunderstanding over a boyfriend.
The girl, 15, appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Tancy Dube yesterday facing assault charges for stabbing Sthabile Gwelo in August this year.
The girl was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody to October 30 for plea recording in a matter in which Sibekithemba Dube stood for the State.
"The juvenile assaulted Gwelo with open hands and then stabbed her four times on the chest," said Dube.
The court heard that on August 8 at around 10AM, Gwelo went to the girl's house to inquire why she had visited her house in her absence.
The girl did not respond, but became violent and assaulted Gwelo with open hands before going inside their house after she was called by her grandfather.
After a few minutes she came back holding a knife and stabbed Gwelo four times on the chest in an incident blamed on a misunderstanding they had had over a man at some shops in Pumula, the court heard.
Gwelo bled profusely and fell to the ground before she was ferried to hospital. A report was made at the police leading to the girl's arrest.
Gwelo was admitted to Mpilo Central Hospital for some weeks as she had sustained serious injuries due to the stabbing.
In recent months, a number of stabbings involving juveniles have been reported. Recently, a Sobukhazi pupil was stabbed by her schoolmates at the school grounds.
