Zinara launches blitz on unregistered cars

Zinara has launched a mobile unit to hunt for and flush out unregistered vehicles as it intensifies its clampdown on errant motorists.

In Bulawayo, the body which licences, collects tolls and constructs toll gates on behalf of government yesterday deployed officials escorted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police to physically examine vehicles and pounce on non-compliant owners.

Zinara public relations officer Augustine Moyo said these mobile units have always been in place and they have stepped up.

Government last year ordered all vehicles owners to register and licence their vehicles by November 30 2014 or risk having the vehicles de-registered.
