ZANU-PF Politburo member, Simon Khaya Moyo yesterday questioned MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai's sanity following the opposition politican's campaign urging voters to spoil ballot papers in the June 10 by-elections.

Addressing Zanu PF supporters at Jimila Business centre in Tsholotsho as part of a series of campaign rallies for Tsholotsho North party candidate Professor Jonathan Moyo, Khaya Moyo said Tsvangirai and his party were always going to lose in the polls.

The Zanu PF secretary for information and publicity said the by-election was an opportunity presented by God for the people of Tsholotsho North to get proper representation.

"God has his ways. We didn't know that we would be voting on June 10. We heard that some person came here and told the people not to go and vote and that they should go and spoil the votes. Is he normal?

"He wants people to wake up and queue all for the purpose of spoiling votes. They know that even if they contested, they were going to lose so they started this futile campaign."

Tsvangirai last Sunday took his "no reforms no votes" campaign to Tsholotsho but locals snubbed him.

The beleaguered MDC-T leader addressed a small crowd of people mostly bussed from outside Tsholotsho. He urged them to go and spoil ballot papers on June 10.

Khaya Moyo also said the former legislator Roselyn Nkomo disappeared after being voted into Parliament.

"We want development and Prof Moyo is a development oriented person. I was hearing now that he renovated Jimila Clinic, these are the kind of leaders we want," he said.

He narrated a story of a British MP who never contributed in Parliament for his entire term and the only words he uttered was when he asked a colleague to open a window.

"You can't vote a person who'll only open their mouth asking someone to open a window. We know that Prof Moyo won't be saying open the window. He will follow up on projects for the development of the people. A leader should know how his people live," said Khaya Moyo.

"Stop listening to false promises from the opposition. Don't vote for people you don't know but come to where we were left by Joshua Nkomo."

Khaya Moyo said he was in the area to thank the people of Tsholotsho in advance as he was confident that the party would win in the polls. He said the job however did not end there as the party needed to work to ensure that it wins back all seats in the 2018 elections.

"We must sweep everything and not leave anything for these opposition parties. I want to commend you also for the good job you're doing in building structures. I heard that this ward has 40 cells which is very commendable," he said.

After the rally Khaya Moyo briefly toured Jimila Clinic that was renovated by Prof Moyo.

The Chronicle also established that Prof Moyo had facilitated connection of electricity to the homesteads of Chief Mathuphula and Chief Tategulu.
