CHAOS is reigning supreme at the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Bulawayo with as the biggest science institution in the country has failed to repair a generator and has a bloated useless staff, we reveal today.

Investigations by Bulawayo24.com have revealed that the universities, which has about 8000 students who pay fees that range from US$375-US$575 spend most of their time sauntering around the campus and not learning as their lecturers will be either doing private work or nothing.

The students said most of the time when they enquire from their lecturers why they are not learning, they are advised that there is "no research" being done as the IT Department is malfunctioning.

"When we ask why they are not teaching us, they say they have not researched because the IT Department is not working," said an engineering third year student who requested not to be named.

Surprisingly the university, touted as one of the best science schools in Zimbabwe has failed to repair a generator.

"When there is no power lecturers just pack their bags and go. The Administrator department is now helpless," said a student.

There are four employees at the Administration office doing the same work, what for no-one knows, added another student.

The university failed and or neglected to send an engineer for the "proposed training" and the only trusted generator in the university has "burst," rendering the training centre a dark city, a senior lecturer said.

Further, the university does not have banking facilities, despite the fact that one of its major departments is the Commercial one.

"Go to UZ (University of Zimbabwe) there are banks within. Why are we not having the same here. Or is it because our University is in Bulawayo, said an irate student.

Nust officials refused to comment.

"We do not talk to reporters," said a receptionist.
