'Pregnant' teen daughter of AFM elder commits suicide

An Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM) elder's form three daughter is believed to have committed suicide in Centenary Mashonaland Central province yesterday (Wednesday).
Sources close to investigations allege that Sibongile Utaunashe, a pupil at Gatu High school, suspected to haven been pregnant, drank unknown toxic substance in a suicidal incident yesterday.
Apparently Sibongile was ashamed for both the church and the school. AFM Gatu assembly elder Utaunashe is a retired teacher from Gatu High.
The corpse has since been taken to St Albert's mission hospital for postmortem today.
Statics from Zimbabwe Demographic health survey (ZDHS) 2015 have indicated that in 2010, 28% of adolescent girls from rural areas were already mothers compared to 16,4% of their counterparts in urban centres. In 2015 the figures for urban areas dropped to 10.3% while in the rural areas figures are still high at 27,2%.
Cases of suicide are rife mainly prompted by economic hardships in Zimbabwe.
