Over 9 000 foreigners seek refuge in Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe is home to over 9 000 refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Somalia and Ethiopia housed at the Tongogara Refugee Camp, a Labour ministry official said.
The Labour ministry's refugee officer, Moira Gumbingo said on refugees in the capital. She said the DRC, that is constantly facing tribal related insurgencies, contributes the biggest number of the refugees.
United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees representative in Zimbabwe, Robert Tibagwa said they were receiving support from the government, as well as from the World Food Programme for the refugees.
He commended the government, saying it was doing its best despite the economic challenges.
