Farmer's hut burnt down, suspected arson

A 31-year-old Mazowe farmer is reported to have lost 15-17 bales of tobacco in an inferno after his house went in flames today, Zim Rights have reported.

According to Zim Rights defender for Mazowe Evans Matola, a new farmer Tinashe Kavhute Marufu (31) of ward 25 Mazowe lost his tobacco due to a mysterious fire and two people who were sleeping in that room cheated death.

New farmer Tinashe Kavhute Marufu (31) of plot 33 Bright farm in ward 25 Mazowe Central was left in deep shock when he was awakened by flames of fire around 02:00hours engulfing the room where he kept his tobacco.



"There were two men guarding the tobacco from inside who escaped when the fire started," said Matola.

The matter was reported at Mvurwi police station and investigations are in progress on the cause of the fire.

ZimRights have called for people to solve their differences amicably.

"As human rights defenders we castigates the use of punishment in solving differences as that destroys the nation as citizens we should built a better Zimbabwe not to fix one another," he said.
