George Charamba, President Robert Mugabe's spokesperson, who until recently was the ghost character behind the caustic Nathaniel Manheru column in the State-controlled Herald newspaper, has announced he will no longer continue with the widely-read editorial.
According to NewZimbabwe.com, the acerbic bureaucrat bade farewell in his last instalment this Saturday where he also took time to lampoon local journalists for perceived poor intellect which has failed them as they tried to conceptualise matters to do with the country's body-politic.
The Information Ministry permanent secretary took no prisoners, even going for Zanu-PF rivals among them his former boss Jonathan Moyo, the original author of the column and now Higher and Tertiary education minister.
Moyo confirmed his irritation with the column in a tweet.
"Goodbye Nathaniel Manheru, Godspeed & good riddance!" Moyo said, ignoring some of the good comments Charamba said about his former boss in the column.

Nathaniel Manheru was a must read even for those who viewed it with derision and despised its author for his often biting and what they felt were bigoted piece of commentary.Goodbye Nathaniel Manheru. Godspeed & good riddance!https://t.co/xqjp4qi1c2 pic.twitter.com/tJ7afOuBBf
