The Zimbabwe Electoral commission chairperson Justice Rita Makarau has said the diasporans are allowed to come and registered to vote at any constituency of their choice and at a particular polling station but his organisation has no mandate or capacity to take the registration and voting processes outside Zimbabwe.

Makarau made the remarks on Thursday while speaking to ZTV.

"There is no law that gives allows us to go and register people in the diaspora, but we can only tell them that they can come and register to vote and when election time come they can come and vote for the leaders of their choice," Makarau said.

Zimbabwe is scheduled to hold general elections early next year and Zec said it was ready to manage the polls.
