The
MDC led by Welshman Ncube has expressed some worries over the low turn
out of people registering to vote under the biometric registration
process indicating that if the trend continues the region will record
the lowest voting numbers next year than ever before.
Matabeleland South Chairman of the party Pilate Ndebele said all was not well in the region in terms of number of people who have registered to vote so far.
He said beside the nation having recorded about 4 million people as registered the figures from the whole of Matabeleland provinces were shocking and far below expectation.
"Most of the people who have registered are elderly people while the youth are not registering," Ndebele said.
"We are saying if possible can the ZEC extend the period of registration until after the holiday so that even those from the diaspora who will come for holiday will have chance to register."
