FORMER Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe invited ire of the nation when he claimed he was unconstitutionally removed from office by incumbent Emmerson Mnangagwa.
Zimbabwean citizens accused Mugabe of being a "monster", "economic wrecker", "liability" and "chief human rights violator" who deserved deathby hanging.
The public reaction followed Mugabe's media interview with journalists last week where claimed was unfairly and unconstitutionally removed from office by Mnangagwa with the help of military.
However, angry citizens argued millions of people, who took to the streets of capital Harare and across the country was a clear indication the nation was fed up with Mugabe's rule.
During media conference, Mugabe said: "I never thought this would happen when I nurtured him (Mnangagwa) and worked so hard while in jail to save his life when they wanted to hang him. I was always with Emmerson Mnangagwa, I brought him into government but never thought he would be the man to turn against me."
However, Mnangagwa reacted saying: "He (Mugabe) is entitled to express himself freely as is the case for any private citizen. The nation has moved on. Our focus at this time shall remain on preparing for free, fair and credible elections in 2018. This is a key step in the immense task at hand, which is to lift our people from the effects of the years of severe economic regression and international isolation."
Several citizens comprising Lazrus Nevurura, who reacted to Mugabe's outcry said: "Coup or no coup, we (Zimbabweans) were delivered from a long period of oppression and suffering from this monster (Mugabe)."
Mbimbindoga Chidembo said: "Mugabe is simply irrelevant to the future of Zimbabwe."
Female entrepreneur Raviro Ruzvidzo said: "Whether Mugabe continues to rumble and waffle, it won't change anything. If did not see Zimbabweans from all walks of life march against his removal, then he is a moving grave that requires no help."
Nokuthula Ngwenya said: "Those who marched against Mugabe were Zimbabweans across the political divide, not just MDC supporters. Those who started the impeachment process were ZANU-PF legislators, and not MDC. Why is this guy (Mugabe) so stubborn?"
Runesu Zvoushe said: "Mugabe should concentrate on playing with his daughter's children (Bonna) instead of making a fool of himself. I think the oldman is now sick, if not mentally deranged."
Earlier, Mugabe had blamed the mass killing of more than 20,000 people Gukurahundi to then rival revolutionary party Zimbabwe African People's Union (ZAPU) and its military wing Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army (ZIPRA) for waging civil war.
