A ZIMBABWEAN man has been struck and killed by lightning in South Africa in a rare incident that has left many fellow countrymen stunned, it has emerged.
Nkosana Doubt Mpala was struck by lightning in Johannesburg last Saturday. Details are yet to emerge.
Relatives and friends are now appealing to well-wishers to assist financially to ferry his body to Zimbabwe, Gwatemba area, where he hails from.
The deceased is from Skuta area where he is expected to be buried.
In a statement, a close colleague Bincent Ncube siad: "We are appealing to well-wishers to give love, monetary and social support to ferry the deceased to Zimbabwe. Attempts to get meaningful contribution have been futile because the majority of the family members are not formally employed. I believe it is not within our culture to get him cremated here in foreign land. In fact, it will be cultural and kind of us to entrust him with decent burial among his people in Gwatemba," said Ncube.
"We are appealing to your attention to assist us out of this misery and difficult time. We hope to finalize all paper work at the Zimbabwe consulate in Pretoria on Monday. Please contact bincentbheki@yahoo.com over the issue," he said.
