A PUBLIC transport operator who was on Tuesday morning found dead along Jeff Road near the Golden Peacock Villa Hotel was not murdered but died of heart failure.
Police this week cleared the air on the mysterious death of the Chikanga-based kombi operator, Artwell Tenderere (36).
Word doing rounds was that the youthful businessman was robbed, killed and dumped by the roadside by suspected thieves who were driving an unregistered Toyota Ipsum.
The thieves were said to have tracked him from his place of residence, robbed and killed him in the process.
Police said Tenderere, of House No.8174 St Joseph Chikanga, succumbed to heart failure and collapsed while he was jogging along Jeff Road.
Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said the late Tenderere's brother, Tsika Tenderere, confirmed that the deceased had been struggling with cardio vascular problems for a long time.
"He died on June 5, 2018 at around 6.30am. He arrived at Golden Peacock Villa Hotel at around 5.30am, parked his car and left for jogging," he said.
"Tenderere later collapsed and died while he was jogging. His brother, Tsika Tenderere of No.4140 Chikanga Phase 2 said Artwell had been struggling with hypertension and heart problems for a long time. After he collapsed, a passerby notified his employee Kelvin Kupangwa (38) of 48 Chitungo, Sakubva who reported the matter to the police," he said.
Insp Kakohwa said the late Artwell's body was taken to hospital for a post mortem.
