Fake soldier demands $200 for military jobs?

A 33-year-old Kadoma man allegedly disguising himself as a soldier and duped two desperate men of $200 by promising them military jobs.
The accused, Terrence Maxwell Nyanga (33) residing in Munhumutapa area, Rimuka Suburb received money from Tinashe Nyatsanga (21) and Prosper Mateveke (21) both from Garzmark farm in Kadoma $100 each alleging that he would assist them get jobs in the Zimbabwe National Army, before he just fled.
Nyanga pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared before Kadoma Magistrate Tatenda Makwanya on Monday facing combined charges of fraud and impersonating.
Prosecuting, Hebert Ngezimani told the court that sometime in January this year under same circumstances, but on different on occasions the accused unlawfully received $100 each from the complainants intending to deceive them that he was a ZNA member.
Ngezimani told the court that, Nyanga then informed the complainants that he would assist them to be enrolled into ZNA as a soldier.
It is also said that, the accused said the money would cater for administration work and purchase of uniforms.
Since both complainants knew him as a local guy popularly known as ‘gunners' they gave in.
The accused then promised to assist them to be recruited as trainee soldiers with ZNA and he went away for good without assisting the duo as promised.
The money was never recovered.
Magistrate Makwanya deferred the matter for trial on a later date to be advised.
