A Harare woman threatened to impose a 10-year sex ban on her husband if he continues engaging in extra-marital affairs. Elizabeth Chiropa (48), made the threat in court where she had aplied for a peace order against her husband Solo Masepo (53), whom she accused of being abusive and adulterous.

The couple resides in glen-View 8. Solo could not afford such restrictive measures so he promised to change his ways.

"Ndagarisa, zvanyanya (It's been so long now), if possible to honourable court, you can help me on that because I do not want to force her. At one time I dragged her to bedroom and she threatened to report me to police for rape," he said.

Solo asked Elizabeth to be lenient and forgive him on all the misconducts that can bar them to enjoy their conjugal rights. he told the court that he last had sex in january 2011 and its going to be a 'new' thing when his wife lifts the ban. Elizabeth insisted that she would only lift the sex ban on condition that Solo behaves well.

"Yes Your Worship it is true that we last had sex n 2011 and we are not going to have it anytime soon. I am advising him to brace for another five years or even ten so that he can stop his adulterous behavious," she said confidently as someone who was on top of the situation.

Elizabeth said she denying him sex because he is engaging in extra marital affairs and he once showed her his prostitute. She also said Solo is verbally and physically abusing her.

Magistrate Milton Serima presided over the case and granted a reciprocal order describing Elizabeth's behaviour as "cruelty". He (magistrate) however, advised the two parties to settle the issue and co-exist peacefully.

"The applicant (Elizabeth), you are being unfair to your husband (Solo), the court however has no right to say go and give him sex today. But I advise you to go and sit down to come up with a possible solution, you must respect each other's conjugal rights to avoid all these disputes," he said.
