Highlanders advanced to the next round of the 2018 Chibuku Super Cup after coming from behind and beat Yadah 2-1 in a match played at Barbourfields Stadium on Sunday.

CAPS United and Triangle United also progressed to the next round of the tournament.

Tshilamoya dominated possession in the opening minutes, creating some good chances. Nigel Makumbe had the first effort on target in the 3rd minute, but keeper Steven Chimusoro saved it. Brian Banda followed up a few moments later, but again Chimusoro had no troubles to deal with his effort.

Yadah who were relying on counter attacks came close in the 20th minute through Simbarashe Sithole.

Bosso continued to dictate the pace and were denied what looked like a legitimate penalty when Tafadzwa Sibanda beat his markers before being brought down inside the box on the stroke of halftime.

The Stars grabbed an advantage three minutes into the second half when Sithole fired home from a close range. The striker followed up with another attempt which almost doubled the lead but it only hit the woodwork.

A double substitution by coach Madinda Ndlovu on the hour – Newman Sianchali and Godfrey Makaruse coming on for Makumbe and Banda – changed the complexion of the game as the hosts started attacking.

MacClive Phiri's header was cleared off the line before Gabriel Nyoni missed the target by an inch.

However, it was not going to be long as Mbongeni Ndlovu got the equaliser on minute 70.

Sianchali sealed the victory with six minutes to play as Highlanders book a place in the last 8.

In Harare, CAPS United progressed to the quarterfinals after beating ZPC Kariba 5-4 on penalties.

The encounter had ended goalless in the regulation time. Both teams created chances throughout the encounter but none was a threat for the two goalkeepers.

There was also another shootout at Gibbo as Triangle United beat Shabanie Mine 4-1 on penalties after the game had ended 0-0 at full-time.
