Justice and legal Affairs Minister, Patrick Chinamasa has expressed great
concern at the lack of professionalism and rampant corruption which is threatening to cripple the justice delivery system within the country.
This emerged during a hand-over ceremony of uniforms for inmates held at the Law Society of Zimbabwe in Harare.
He added that the corruption is in every part of the chain of the system from the courts, the prisons service and the police.
He urged law practitioners and judiciary officers to respect the values of the gentleman's profession by adhering to the legal framework.
Speaking after handing over 500 pairs of assorted uniforms for inmates to the Zimbabwe Prison Service and a bursary to assist a disadvantaged female law student, the president of the Zimbabwe Law Society acknowledged the rot in the law fraternity, and pledged to work with government to stamp out corruption.
Last week, 10 law officers were disbarred from the profession owing to various cases involving corruption.
