PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa's administration has been forced to review the controversial employment of a finance ministry spokesman whose social media graft accusations forced the prompt suspension of four directors at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
According to NewZimbabwe, Lumumba was last Friday named chairperson of a communications task-force for the treasury by Finance Minister Professor Mthuli Ncube. However, the information ministry took to Twitter Monday to declare that Lumumba was never appointed Treasury spokesman.

Lumumba however, dismissed the information ministry's statement, saying bureaucrats in that ministry were "captured". He vowed to continue with his job.

Said Lumumba on Twitter, "Many senior gvt officials spent their day making calls & sending orders for & on behalf of Queen B, lots of money paid. The capture goes high! One Ministry(except it's Minister) is so captured the only thing it updated the country on today was ME. Do your job, let me do mine!"

The saga is seen as part of a behind-the-scenes turf war between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy Constantino Chiwenga.
