Former MDC Alliance legislator Norman Mpofu has said he is terrified and extremely shocked by the level of Zanu-PF corruption which is emerging now as the nation riles in serious economic challenges.

"I have always known that Zanu-PF leaders are corrupt but I am extremely shocked by the degree of sabotage by these people to their own country. It is clear that what has been revealed to the nation is just a tip of the iceberg.
More is still hidden. The Presidents, former and present, knew about this but still never cared about the damage done to the country," he said.

"I now fully understand why some people support Zanu-PF despite its glaring shortcomings. It is the benefit of having access to the national coffers unhindered. What kind of a President will allow such kind of sabotage under his stewardship. The nation need to go back to the drawing board. Relook at the magnitude of the problem we are facing. No doubt it is colossal."

He said this problem can not be solved by MDC Alliance leader Nelson  Chamisa and his cartel.

"It requires the entire nation including the sober ones in Zanu-PF if they are still there. We require the international community to assist because the very people who are to take the nation out of this quagmire are dirty. They are right at the the epicentre of our problems," he said.

"What is even more shocking is the mention of some opposition figures in these dirty deals. I now understand why some people can kill to get into political offices. Why they pour personal resources to be in power. Why they rig elections. Why they refuse to step down while others grab positions without going  to congress. It is never about serving people but all about plundering state resources."

"We must acknowledge that Mnangagwa unlike Mugabe opened a small window for us to see the damage being done to the nation. To expect him to take us out is a typical example of expecting a man to lift a bucket while inside the bucket."

He said Zimbabweans are in a sewer pond and need to get out.

"We need a responsible and uniting opposition if we are serious about getting out. We need new strategies. We need a new  approach. We need a new direction," he said.
