Thousands of households to get free bulbs

Zimbabwe Electricity Transmission and Distribution Company has put out a tender for installation of more than 3 million Compact Fluorescent Lamps in its Western Region which covers Bulawayo and surrounding areas and Harare.
In the Western region 1 346 760 bulbs are set to be installed for 134 676 households and 1 937 720 bulbs covering 193 772 households in Harare.
The bulbs would be given and installed for free as part of measures to reduce electricity usage.
According to a tender notice released on Thursday, Bulawayo is divided into four areas, A to D.
It means that Bulawayo A would have 258 510 bulbs in 25 851 households, Bulawayo B require 286 930 bulbs for 28 693 residential places, Bulawayo C needs 291 490 bulbs in 29 149 houses and Bulawayo D would have 283 890 bulbs in 28 389 households.
Gwanda would have 42 500 bulbs in 4 250 houses, Esigodini would have 24 700 bulbs in 2 470 houses, Gwanda, Beitbridge would have 36 680 bulbs in 3 668 houses while Hwange require 58 930 bulbs covering 5 893 houses with Victoria Falls needing 63 130 bulbs installed for 6 313 households.
In Harare, the city centre would have 11 650 bulbs in 1165 areas, Avenues (52 760 covering 5276 areas),Avondale (40 750 bulbs, 4075 areas), Belverdere (31100 bulbs,3110 areas), Borrowdale (81380 bulbs , 8138 areas),Budiriro (92650, 9265 areas), Dzivakasekwa (102990 bulbs, 10299 areas), Glen Norah (82 800 bulbs, 8280 areas) and Glen View would require 80 520 for 8052 areas.
Other areas are Greendale (37720, 3772 areas), Hatfield (84720 bulbs, 8472 areas), Highfields (92 710 bulbs, 9271 areas), Highlands ( 46740 bulbs, 4674 areas), Kuwadzana (123 920 bulbs, 12392 areas), Mabelreign (34810 bulbs, 3481 areas), Marlborough (77910 bulbs, 7791 areas), Mabvuku (95030 bulbs,9503 areas), Mbare (65660 bulbs, 6566) and Mount Pleasant would have 38780 bulbs in 3878 households.
The remain tender are for Mufakose (129480 bulbs, 12948 areas), Ruwa (44200 bulbs, 4420 areas), Seke (179530 bulbs in 17953 areas), Southerton (10990 bulbs, 1099 areas), Seke Rural (9630 bulbs, 963 areas), Sunningdale (18510 bulbs, 1851 areas), St Mary's (35430 bulbs, 35430 areas), Warren Park (61730 bulbs, 61730 areas), Waterfalls (58080 bulbs, 5808 areas) and Zengeza would have 115540 bulbs for 11554 areas.
