Boy (4) sodomised, infected with HIV

A four-year-old Epworth toddler was allegedly infected with HIV after being sodomised by a 19-year-old teenager early last month, the court heard yesterday.

Addington Ngirazi, of Solani Epworth, was not asked to plead when he appeared before regional magistrate Sandra Mupindu on a charge of aggravated indecent assault and was remanded in custody. According to the State, the toddler spilled the beans to his guardian who had discovered the minor was facing some difficulty in walking home from creche. Upon interrogation, the toddler allegedly told his guardian that sometime last month Ngirazi called him to his room and sodomised him.

Prosecutor Sarah Bosha presented that after sexually abusing the toddler, Ngirazi offered him Zap-nax brand potato snack to eat and ordered him not to disclose what had happened to anyone.

But as the toddler strolled home from pre-school, his guardian noticed his peculiar walking and took the toddler for examination. The minor implicated Ngirazi after he was quizzed. The matter was reported to police leading to Ngirazis arrest. The toddler tested HIV positive after he was taken for a medical examination.
