A CHITUNGWIZA man lost two front teeth after he was head-butted by a tout in a dispute over a stolen cellphone.

He pleaded guilty to theft and assault when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

She sentenced Chinhaire to 12 months and set aside four months on condition of good behaviour.
The remaining eight months were suspended on condition Chinhaire performs 280 hours of unpaid work.
Prosecutor Mr Henry Muringani told the court that on July 31, at around 8pm, Gift Kusenha (54) of Zengeza 1, Chitungwiza lost his cellphone to Chinhaire on a commuter omnibus along Seke Road.
The court heard that Chinhaire stole the N8250 model and stashed it in the groceries he had bought and put the phone's back cover in his stockings.
When he was about to disembark from the Kombi at Zemanure bus stop in Zengeza, Kusenha noticed that his phone had been stolen.
Kusenha suspected Chinhaire and apprehended him calling for help from fellow passengers.
Chinhaire head-butted Kusenha in a bid to loosen the grip, resulting in him loosing two teeth.
