Gwanda man swept away by river

THE body of a 30-year-old man from Garanyemba village in Gwanda who drowned in a river about a week ago has been found more than 10 kilometres downstream.
Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena confirmed the incident.
"I can confirm that the body of Albhasi Nyathi a 30-year-old male of Garanyemba village in Gwanda district was discovered along Sengezane river at Guyu area on February 22 in a suspected drowning case.
"Invesigations are underway and we continue to urge people not to cross flooded rivers," said Insp Mangena.
Villagers who spoke to this news crew said Mr Nyathi left home on February 15 from his village where he was going to Collen Bawn where he works.
"We never heard from him after that. His body was discovered trapped 10km away along Sengezane river at Guyu area by a 19-year-old boy who was fishing. The boy informed villagers who informed the police and his family was located," said the villager.
