Matemadanda speaks on new appointment

OUTGOING Zanu-PF national Political Commissar, Victor Matemadanda who was appointed as ambassador designate to Mozambique commended President Mnangagwa for re-assigning him to a diplomatic mission and is optimistic of delivering up to expectations.
In an interview, Matemadanda said the rumours circulating before the official announcement were misplaced.
"There was a lot of hype, saying Matemadanda has been demoted, has been fired from the Politburo. That was only gossiping.
"Why it could not be announced at that time is because of the protocol involved in the appointment of ambassadors. When one is about to be appointed or has been selected to be appointed, there is what is known as the Agrimo, a letter requesting one to be appointed an ambassador to a country, to give a country chance to accept or to refuse.
"Between that time and the time of appointment announcement, one is not even allowed to visit the country, let alone talk about it. This is why I was quiet. As to whether the appointment of ambassador from a Deputy Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs is demotion or not, that is none of my business. I have confidence in my President and I know he assigns me where he thinks I can serve most. For me it is not about the position or seniority but it is about fulfilling that which I would have been I assigned to do. I can assure you, I will deliver as to expectations."
