GWANDA - Zanu PF Matabeleland South on Saturday celebrated the passage of Constitutional Amendment Act No. 3, holding a well‑attended thank‑you rally at Gwanda Club.

Ward 23 Shadow Councillor Sikhanyisiwe Nkomo was among thousands of supporters who gathered for the event following the signing of Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3 (CAB3) into law by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

The rally brought together the party’s leadership in Matabeleland South, led by Provincial Chairman and Minister of Industry and Commerce Mangaliso Ndlovu, and Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Albert Ngulube.

Also present were Politburo and Central Committee members, Members of Parliament, councillors, war veterans, provincial youth leaders, ward leaders and other supporters. The event was hosted by Provincial Commissar Washington Nkomo.

The celebrations featured entertainment by musician Godolude, whose performance set a festive tone as supporters sang and danced throughout the programme. Videos and photographs from the rally showed Nkomo celebrating with fellow supporters and posing for pictures with senior party officials.

Speaking to the media, Nkomo said she was determined to attend despite having travelled from Harare after participating in the inaugural SMEs and Cooperatives Indaba at the Harare International Conference Centre.

“I had just come from Harare yesterday after attending the inaugural SMEs and Cooperatives Indaba at HICC for two days. I was feeling tired, but because it was the CAB3 celebration, I made it a point that I could not miss it. I drove 400 kilometres to and from Gwanda to my residence. Thank you, leaders. We enjoyed the programme and lunch,” she said.

Nkomo has been actively involved in mobilisation activities in Insiza North during the CAB3 campaign, combining community outreach with development initiatives and donations in support of the amendment.

Party leaders at the rally described the enactment of CAB3 as a significant achievement, thanking communities across Matabeleland South for supporting mobilisation efforts.

The event concluded with calls for continued unity, grassroots engagement and the rollout of development initiatives, with similar celebrations expected at ward level across the province as discussions around CAB3 implementation and community mobilisation continue.
