FOUR Embakwe High School teachers in Mangwe district, Matabeleland South province who tested positive to Covid-19 before schools closed for the first term on June 4, have now been removed from quarantine.

Schools are opening for the second term on June 28. In a telephone interview, Plumtree district medical officer Dr Joe Nganono said the four teachers were released from quarantine.

"We tested everyone at Embakwe High School before schools closed and all the students tested negative but the four teachers out of the 25 tested positive. The four were then put on quarantine," said Dr Nganono.

In April, Embakwe High School was put under quarantine after more than 90 people, including pupils and teachers tested positive to Covid-19. In a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19 everyone was again tested before schools closed.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education communications and advocacy director Mr Taungana Ndoro said the disinfection of schools is going on well.

"We are disinfecting schools to ensure they are safe before the opening," said Mr Ndoro.
