THE Zanu-PF Hwange District Co-ordinating Committee (DCC) has welcomed Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Binga North legislator Mr Prince Dubeko Sibanda's wife Memory who has joined the revolutionary party.
Mr Sibanda is also CCC Matabeleland North provincial chair and is on separation with Mrs Sibanda.
In her letter requesting to be accepted into the revolutionary party, Mrs Sibanda (44) said she had never been officially a member of any party or held any political party membership card.
The party's DCC for Hwange welcomed her at a meeting that was organised by Chamabondo district in Mkhosana, Victoria Falls on Sunday.
She said Zanu-PF vision and ethos, also inculcated into her by her family led her into making the decision which comes soon after her separation with Mr Sibanda after a tumultuous marriage.
"I separated with my husband and I am back home where almost everyone is Zanu-PF. To them (CCC) I might appear as a sell-out but I never bought a card. I supported my husband as a councillor for Mkhosana Ward 11 and for the two terms he has been Member of Parliament fort Binga North.
"I have nothing against him, I rejoined Zanu-PF because my career and life were nurtured in Zanu-PF.
"The first institution I worked for after school was the Ministry of Women's Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development and with that background in and involvement in agriculture where I have been doing a lot of development work in Matabeleland South, I feel I am home where there is room for development," she said in an interview.
Mrs Sibanda is a board member for the Agriculture Marketing Authority after appointment in 2019 and she chairs the human resources committee.
She holds a degree in development studies and said she is available to assist in developmental work in Matabeleland North.
Hwange DCC chairman Mathew Muleya said the revolutionary party was open to Zimbabweans who want to join it for the sake of development.
He implored party members to welcome new supporters regardless of where they come from.
"We want five million votes so we need numbers. As a party we are don't want people who are against numbers. We welcome you Memory Sibanda. You are now part of Zanu-PF Hwange family. If you hear someone saying come to my team, refuse. We are one team in this district," he said.
