Renowned historian and author, Phathisa Nyathi, is reaching out to potential donors for assistance in funding the production of a book chronicling the history of Highlanders Football Club, also known as Bosso. Founded in 1926 by Albert and Rhodes Khumalo, grandchildren of the late King Lobengula, Bosso holds a significant place in Zimbabwean football history.
Nyathi, an educator and playwright with a deep passion for Zimbabwean arts and culture, has authored numerous essays on historical events and now aims to document the rich history of Bosso in a book. He has approached the Highlanders board to request funding and permission for this project, pending approval.
Nyathi's commitment to preserving and sharing Zimbabwean culture extends beyond his writing endeavors. He is also engaged in a skills transmission workshop in Matobo, empowering young individuals with research, citizen reporting, and advocacy skills. This initiative seeks to enhance economic governance and reduce poverty by preserving traditional arts and crafts, such as basketry weaving, wood carving, ceramics, and fine arts.
Through his book project and community development efforts, Nyathi is dedicated to enriching Zimbabwean heritage and fostering positive change.
