Title: CCC Spokesperson Addresses Party's Decision Not to Withdraw MPs from Parliament
Date: [Current Date]
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) spokesperson Promise Mkwananzi addressed concerns and calls from party supporters urging the withdrawal of Members of Parliament in protest against the decision made by the Interim Secretary General, Sengezo Tshabangu. Tshabangu had initiated the recall of certain MPs who were no longer considered members of the party.
Despite the growing pressure from CCC supporters on social media platforms, Mkwananzi made it clear that the party has decided against instructing its Members of Parliament to withdraw from Parliament. Instead, the CCC believes that its impact on addressing the government's actions will be more effective by remaining within the parliamentary system.
"It is our considered view as the Citizens Coalition for Change that we will be more impactful speaking against and calling out the regime in parliament while also guarding our zones of autonomy rather than pulling out," Mkwananzi stated in the X post.
Mkwananzi emphasized the importance of confronting the government's actions directly within the parliamentary setting. He expressed the party's commitment to defending the people's vote, stating, "We were elected by the people. We respect and we will defend the people's vote."
The CCC spokesperson challenged President Mnangagwa, suggesting that if the government does not want CCC legislators in Parliament, they should take the step to expel them rather than allowing the party to withdraw voluntarily. This, according to Mkwananzi, would reveal the true nature of those undermining democracy.
"If Mr. Mnangagwa does not want our legislators in Parliament, let him expel them rather than us doing the job for him. That way, the world will know who the real enemy of democracy is. We will never give in to the regime's machinations," Mkwananzi asserted.
