Zimbabwe police chief warns criminal elements

Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga emphasized that anyone involved in criminal activities or actions aimed at destabilizing the country would face firm repercussions. He highlighted the vital role of the police in fostering an environment conducive to achieving the nation's Vision 2030.
Comm Gen Matanga made these remarks while promoting 86 senior police officers, ranging from Chief Superintendent to Commissioner, as appointed by President Mnangagwa. Among them, 17 were elevated to Commissioner from Assistant Commissioner, 28 to Assistant Commissioner from Chief Superintendent, and 41 to Chief Superintendent from Superintendent.
He congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to view their advancement as an opportunity to serve the nation selflessly. Comm Gen Matanga stressed the importance of their leadership in combating crime within communities.
The Commissioner-General acknowledged the officers' exemplary leadership, patriotism, professionalism, discipline, and ethical conduct. He emphasized the heightened expectations accompanying their promotions, urging them to set an example for their colleagues and the communities they serve.
Comm Gen Matanga advised the officers to lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, empathy, and fairness. He warned against complacency, reminding them of the scrutiny they face from various quarters.
Maintaining discipline, according to Comm Gen Matanga, is essential for the effective functioning of the police force. He urged the promoted officers to deal decisively with any actions hindering organizational performance.
