Rumours surrounding the departure of Highlanders' stalwarts Peter Muduhwa and Lynoth Chikuhwa have intensified, despite head coach Kelvin Kaindu's assurances that no players have officially left the club.

Muduhwa's emotional lap of honour after Highlanders' 1-1 draw against Yadah Stars on Sunday fueled speculation about his exit. Accompanied by veteran goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda, who has hinted at deciding his future at the end of the season, Muduhwa appeared to be bidding farewell to the Bosso faithful.
Kaindu Responds to Speculation

Addressing the growing chatter, Kaindu said:
"As things stand, no one has left; everybody is still part of the team. We can't take away the rumours doing the rounds. If there are rumours, you have to start planning ahead."

However, insiders claim Muduhwa and Chikuhwa are set to join newly promoted Northern Region Division One outfit Scottland FC. Backed by gold mining interests, Scottland FC has embarked on an ambitious recruitment drive, already securing top-flight players like Denver Mukamba, King Nadolo, Cleopas Dube, and McClive Phiri, another former Highlanders player.
Highlanders' Potential Loss

Muduhwa's exit would mark the end of an era for the club, as the defender has been a cornerstone of Highlanders' backline. Meanwhile, Chikuhwa, who finished the season as Highlanders' top scorer with 17 goals, has been a vital attacking force and is among the favourites to feature in the Soccer Star of the Year top three.
Soccer Star of the Year Contenders

The selection panel, comprising journalists, club coaches, and captains, will soon vote for the 11 best players of the season. Newly crowned champions Simba Bhora are expected to dominate, with their defensive trio of Blessing "Bisto" Moyo, Webster Tafa, and Isheanesu Mauchi standing out during their title-winning campaign.

Other strong contenders include Dynamos' vice-captain Emmanuel Jalai, FC Platinum's Brian Banda, and ZPC Kariba's Boid Mutukure. Caps United players Godknows Murwira and Kingsley Mureremba, along with Farai Banda of Manica Diamonds and Juan Mutudza of FC Platinum, have also had standout performances.
Goalkeeper of the Year Race

The Goalkeeper of the Year accolade appears to be a two-horse race between Donovan Bernard of Chicken Inn and Nelson Chadya of Ngezi Platinum Stars, both of whom delivered consistent performances throughout the season.
Scottland FC's Ambitions

Scottland FC's aggressive recruitment strategy, if confirmed with the addition of Muduhwa and Chikuhwa, signals their intent to challenge established teams in the top flight. As Highlanders grapple with these potential losses, Scottland's gold-backed ambitions are reshaping the competitive landscape of Zimbabwean football.
