Man (51) rapes minor promises sweets to buy her silence

A 51-year-old man from Matobo is in soup after he allegedly raped a eleven-year-old girl from same village and promised to buy her sweets which he never delivered.
Nkosilathi Sibanda (51) from Mahusumani village in the Bazha area was dragged to court yesterday and appeared before Kezi resident magistrate, Busani Sibanda.
He was not asked to plead to the charge and was remanded in custody to January 22.
The magistrate advised the suspect to apply for Bail at the High Court.
The state led by Godfrey Ziki alleged that sometime in January 2021, Nkosilathi Sibanda met the complainant on her way to fetch water at a nearby river and requested the juvenile to join him in playing a game of undressing each other. The accused removed both the complainant's skirt and pant, lowering his trouser to knee level and had unprotected sexual intercourse once without her consent whilst promising to buy the complainant sweets in the near future as well as threatening to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone.
On another date during the same month of January 2021, the accused person met the juvenile on her way to Bazha primary school, grabs, dragged her into the nearby bush and requested for a game of undressing each other before rape her again (having unprotected sexual intercourse without her consent) while promising to buy sweets in the near future. The accused threaten to kill the juvenile if she reveals the matter to anyone and went to a nearby grinding meal.
Moreso, on another third account, the accused met the complainant at the same nearby river where she intended to fetch water and raped her in the bush using the same modus operandi of promising to buy sweets in the near future or kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone.
On the fourth occasion, but during the month of February 2021, the accused called the complainant and requests if she could accompany him to the shops where he raped her in the nearby bush after agreeing to accompany him. He further promised to buy sweets for the complainant.
The matter only came to light on the new year's eve (01 January 2022) when the complainant's aunt noticed that the complainant was sexually abused. She quizzed the complainant who later revealed that she was raped on various occasions leading to the arrest of the accused.
The complainant was referred to Mpilo hospital for a medical examination with results produced showing that she was sexually abused.
