The author of Zimbabwe opposition leader Job Sikhala's biography, Munyaradzi Angero Savanhu, has launched a US$77 000 High Court lawsuit against a Zanu-PF youth leader who disrupted the book launch in July.

The launch of *Footprints in the Chains: The Life Story of Job Sikhala* took place at the Charles Austin Theatre, with Matthew Takaona serving as the Guest of Honour. According to court documents, Esau Mutanho led a group of youth in violently disrupting the event, destroying and stealing books, and damaging property. The incident was subsequently reported to police.

Court summons were served on Mutanho on Wednesday at his residence at 28334 Hillside Extension in Masvingo, although the sheriff had to affix the summons at the gate after a diligent search, as Mutanho was reportedly not present. Earlier attempts to serve him in July had been made through his wife.

Angero, represented by Harrison Nkomo of Mhishi Nkomo Legal Practice, claims the disruption caused financial losses related to organising the event, including venue hire, accommodation for delegates, fuel costs, and property damages, amounting to US$77 000, in addition to legal costs.

This case marks one of the few times opposition figures have sought legal recourse following alleged criminal abuse by Zanu-PF activists, highlighting ongoing tensions between political factions in Zimbabwe.
