A social media political commentator has claimed that ZANU-PF has evolved beyond being a mere political party, describing it as the political ecosystem itself - a force that shapes Zimbabwe's national discourse and governance.
The remarks follow a wave of internal dismissals within the ruling party, which observers believe are part of a strategic manoeuvre by President Emmerson Mnangagwa's faction to weaken the influence of Vice President Constantino Chiwenga's camp ahead of the upcoming national conference.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), Derick Goto said recent developments in Zimbabwe's political landscape reveal a deeper transformation.
"What we are witnessing is not the dominance of a party but the crystallisation of a national reality - ZANU-PF has ceased to be merely a political organisation; it has become the political ecosystem itself," he posted.
Goto argued that ZANU-PF now defines the rhythm and relevance of national conversations.
"Every major conversation, from fiscal policy to social commentary, inevitably orbits around it. The nation's discourse - whether in Parliament, on the streets, or across digital spaces - finds its rhythm and relevance only in relation to ZANU-PF."
He noted that even opposition voices appear to operate within the gravitational pull of the ruling party.
"They no longer frame alternatives - they frame reactions. Their conversations are not against ZANU-PF but about it, through it, and increasingly, within it. The so-called influencers of dissent now find their currency in proximity to the ruling party, seeking validation from the very establishment they once disavowed."
Goto concluded by describing ZANU-PF as the “living architecture of the state”, asserting that it has transcended traditional political binaries.
"ZANU-PF has thus transcended the binary of ruling and opposition politics. It is the living architecture of the state, the custodian of sovereignty, and the steward of Vision 2030. Others may bear political names, but in the grand theatre of Zimbabwean governance, there is only one enduring protagonist - ZANU-PF, the idea and institution that has become the nation's centre of political gravity."
