A TSHOLOTSHO man is lucky to be alive after a neighbour allegedly stabbed him with a knife all over the body for not greeting him.

Witness Mthenjwa (27), of Sipepa Line is now facing a charge of attempted murder for attacking Mr Maqhawe Ncube from Maphani Line.

Mthenjwa was accusing Mr Ncube of not greeting him when the two met on the way to their homesteads from Mlayisa Bottle Store at Dibutibu Business Centre where they were drinking beer.

He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder when he appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Mrs Judith Zuyu.

Mthenjwa will next appear in court on 10 April when his trial begins.

It is alleged that on 4 November last   year  at  about   6pm,  Mr   Ncube   was coming from the bottle store in the company of Ms Fikani Ndlovu.

Mthenjwa, who was in the company of Ms Francisca Ndlovu, emerged from behind them.

The court heard that Mr Ncube greeted Ms Francisca Ndlovu and this irked Mthenjwa who threatened to assault him.

After being restrained by Ms Fikani Ndlovu, Mthenjwa allegedly rushed  to his homestead and came back wielding a knife.

He allegedly followed Mr Ncube who  was   walking   towards   his  homestead and pushed him to the ground.

The court heard that he started stabbing him all over the body until he became unconscious.

Mr Ncube was rushed to hospital where he was admitted and later discharged. A medical report showed that his intestines were perforated, which could cause death.

Mr Tinashe Dzipe is representing the State.
